Tournament format

The TCEC Swiss 3 uses the TCEC Swiss Tournament System with the following configuration:

  • 11 double rounds
  • Group seeding with 50 engines divided in 9 groups. Groups populated using TCEC S22 final standings and one additional engine.

Explanation of special typography:

  • bold engines are invited for this particular event and contact has been sought or established with, the author(s)
  • struck through means declined or not participating
  • bold italics means engine and/or update received.
  • italics means engine same as last event.
  • underlined means possible invite

Bugfixes and problems

Bugs (or problems) found during Swiss Testing:

  1. Rebel - Wine startup problems. Future Linux port.
  2. BlackMarlin - Threads related bug (effectively running on 3-4 threads instead of 101). Bug fixed after deadline.
  3. ClassicAra time loss games 13, 156
  4. Invictus missing newline in game 294

Engines not playing

  1. Hiarcs - email reminder sent - no reply, will not play. after deadline reply did get in: engine cannot enter yet because implementation of MP search for large #cores systems is not yet ready.
  2. Rebel - email reminder sent - reply in, engine promised, engine received, initial Wine problems. Linux port coming? - Linux port will be sent in for a future event, will not play now.

Swiss Opening Book

264 openings selected by Bastiaan Braams (kbg519v1a) and Eduardo Sauceda (cookie_monster_71). Lines are 6 moves or less, played once or never at TCEC tournaments. Increasing from moderate bias in the early rounds to high bias near the end. Round 1: moderate bias (51-68 in cdb, avg 60), Round 2: bias 69-73, avg 71. Evals will increase towards L1/DivP level near the end of the Swiss.
