Tournament format

The TCEC Swiss 5 uses the TCEC Swiss Tournament System with the following configuration:

  • 11 double rounds
  • Group seeding with 42 engines divided in 7 groups. Groups populated using TCEC Season 24 and Swiss 4 compiled final results, adding new engines at the bottom.

  • bold engines are invited for this particular event and contact has been sought or established with, the author(s)
  • struck through means declined or not participating
  • bold italics means engine and/or update received.
  • italics means engine same as last event.

  3. KomodoDragon - possible update upcoming -> progress is being made but not yet enough for update, same version will play
  4. Ethereal - update submitted per discord (same net, engine update to latest)
  5. Stoofvlees - update to StoofvleesIIb5_CUDA11.8 (bugfix release) submitted
  6. SlowChess - no updates coming in the hear future, but development not definitively stopped yet - Blitz 2.9 avx2 playing
  7. Igel - upcoming update announced -> Igel 3.5.1 submitted
  8. Revenge - upcoming update announced -> no update ready in time
  9. RubiChess - no update announced yet - update from 20230419 -> 20230610 submitted
  10. rofChade - possible update upcoming -> 3.020 submitted -> possible bugfix 3.020a submitted -> same version but different build submitted: 3.020_AVX2
  11. ScorpioNN - NO REPLY
  12. Seer - update submitted per discord
  13. Minic - possible update through discord -> 3.37 submitted -> 3.38 update submitted
  14. Fritz - no update for this event, but update will come mid July to come for next event - 18_Vienna playing
  15. BlackMarlin - NO REPLY
  16. Marvin - no update for this event, Marvin 6.2.0-a11 will play
  17. Uralochka - upcoming update announced -> no update 3.39g-avx512 will play again -> v3.39g-avx512 -> 3.39g
  18. Arasan - update per usual repo at deadline
  19. Wasp - update announced -> update to Wasp 6.55 submitted
  20. Halogen - NO REPLY
  21. Velvet - update submitted bug-fix release v5.2.1
  22. Tucano - probably s24 will play, new version Tucano NN still in preparation -> small update to 10.13 submitted now
  23. Booot - accepts the invitation -> no further replies received despite reminders, since bugfix is needed it cannot play this event -> updated with bugfix to 7.1
  24. Expositor - new version announced -> 25·S submitted
  25. Smallbrain - update submitted per discord -> bugfix version dev-20230620-e67f6bf submitted - after crash downgraded to dev-20230404-ea0dbac (discord: script: dev-20230322-7b7319d -> dev-20230611-2dff885 -> dev-20230620-e67f6bf -> dev-20230404-ea0dbac)
  26. Mantissa - no update but update is in preparation for later - 4.0.0-dev-0 playing

  38. Clover - new participant, TCEC Questionnaire received, Clover 5.0 submitted -> update received
  39. Caissa - accepted invitation, awaiting TCEC Questionnaire -> questionnaire received, master version 1.9 submitted -> update to 1.9.4 submitted -> 1.9.3 compiled with GCC11
  40. DeepSjeng - version 3.6 updated to 36a8 - currently under consideration for invite, TCEC Questionnaire received -> officially invited, engine submitted
  41. Viridithas - currently under consideration for invite, TCEC Questionnaire received -> invite decision postponed until season 26 invited after withdrawal from Koivisto - entry promised asap -> version 10.0.0 submitted
  42. BlackCore - currently under consideration for invite, TCEC Questionnaire received -> invite decision postponed until season 26 invited after dropout from Booot -> version 6.0.1 submitted

Engines not playing

  1. Nemorino - NO REPLY
  2. Zahak - no update and possibly declines the invitation to make room for new engines? it was agreed we keep it if it helps tcec get an even number of engines in swiss, else we drop it -> will be reinvited in a next season if updated
  3. Cheese - existing version 3.1.1 proposed as new version is not yet ready -> will be reinvited in a next season when updated
  4. Amoeba - no update coming yet -> will be reinvited in a next season when updated
  5. Counter - no update and decided to skip Season 25
  6. Berserk - no more updates, engine is EOL -> withdrawn by author's request
  7. Koivisto - NO REPLY -> LATE REPLY: no update currently and authors decided to skip Swiss 5 (which is entrance for Season 25)

Swiss Opening Book

Book for Swiss 5 (11 rounds of 21 game pairs) was assembled by Bastiaan (kbg519v1a) from high-level human games with one of 11 selected top players as black and with the advantage for white. The order is as follows: Aronian, Carlsen, Caruana, Firouzja, Mamedyarov, Nepomniachtchi and Vachier Lagrave (21 lines each); then Abdusattorov (14 lines), Anand (16 lines) and Radjabov (12 lines) for a total of 42 lines; finally Nakamura (42 lines).
